STATEMENTS AND LETTERS
Congratulatory letter of President Áder János to Joe Biden on his election as President of the United States
H.E. Joseph Robinette Biden Jr.,
President-elect of the United States of America
Esteemed Mr. President,
I would like to congratulate you on your election victory.
The United States of America – just like the other countries of the world – is facing a difficult period. The COVID-19 pandemic has become the cause of a lot of suffering, serious social problems and poses great challenges for governments. At the same time, even in the midst of the struggle against the pandemic, we should not forget about the need to manage the negative consequences of climate change.
International cooperation is required to resolve global issues effectively.
I am convinced that a transatlantic community of like-minded nations is indispensable to maintain international stability. I can reassure you that Hungary will continue to assume her share as an ally of the United States of America in efforts aimed at preserving peace and security and in the struggle against terrorism.
Historic Hungarian-American relations are rooted in shared values: the traditional love of freedom and commitment to democracy of the two nations. Hungary wishes to further strengthen the friendly relations between our two countries in the future.
Let me avail myself of this opportunity to wish you a lot of success and sound health for your responsible work.
