The competent Minister will submit the citizenship recommendation to the President of the Republic within three months of the receipt of the petition by the organization acting on citizenship affairs. The time limit commences on the date the declaration, the petition or the inquiry is received by the Minister and can be extended once by three months on justifiable grounds.
The time limits will not include
- the time elapsed between the date when the petitioner was asked to submit further documents and the date when these were received;
- the period of suspension of the process;
- the period elapsed while the notary, the consul, the social services, the alien’s policing directory, the police and the competent national security service responded to the inquiry of the Minister;
- the time elapsed from the request for and the receipt of data from other authorities or state organs.
Pursuant to Government Decree No. 125/1993 (IX.22.) Korm. on the Execution of Act LV of 1993 on Hungarian Citizenship following the decision of the President of the Republic, the competent Minister shall forward the certificate of naturalization or repatriation or the notice of the rejection of the application to the mayor of the community where the applicant resides or to the competent Hungarian consulate officer.
